In the industry (and various other sectors), large and small installations gather a significant amount of data. In itself, this is not a new phenomenon. It has been happening for quite some time. However, the meaningful application of that data appears to be challenging in practice.

The establishment of a Logbook of Available Data addresses the need to gain insights into the available data and how it can be interpreted. A qualitatively sound Logbook of Available Data is a means to add value to processes such as Condition Based Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance.

This document provides a generic approach for creating a Logbook of Available Data. Additionally, it outlines the business conditions to enhance the value of the available data (metadata, data architecture, delivery).
